In-Home Counselor (Project SAFE)
  LOCATION:

Van Nuys Campus, Project SAFE
 

  JOB DESCRIPTION:
     

The Help Group is currently looking for a TEMPORARY Bilingual In-Home Outreach Counselor to join our Project SAFE team. This child-abuse prevention program services the 0-5 population through a multi-agency community collaborative.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Perform initial and ongoing strengths-based assessments of children and families. Identify and prioritize families needs across all domains.
*Develop individualized Family Support Team, which includes multi-disciplinary professionals, the child and family, extended family members, and informal community supports.
*Facilitate team meetings and fully involve families in the planning and decision-making process.
*Design Family Support Plan, ensuring strategies, interventions and services are family-centered, flexible and community-based.
*Ensure collaboration and coordination among all agencies involved in the implementation of the Family Support Plan.
*Interface with DCFS, DMH, court systems, schools, health care providers and other community liaisons.
*Provide 24-hour availability and crisis intervention on an as needed basis.
*Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings, inter-agency meetings and in-service trainings.


  QUALIFICATIONS: 


*MA in social work, psychology, counseling or related field and a license or license waivered status.
*Must have at least one year experience working with children, adolescents and families.
*Familiarity with principles of family-centered, strengths-based services and group facilitation.
*Ability to function as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
*Knowledge of the local community and experience working with diverse populations.
*Bilingual in Spanish required!
*Must be registered with the Board of Behavioral Services (BBS).
